LOCAL BEAR RESCUED FROM WILDFIRE AS THE WEST COAST CONTINUES TO BURN

SEPTEMBER 22, 2020

This 1 year old bear was found with its paws badly burned after escaping the East Canyon Fire in Colorado. Other animals in the area will not be as lucky. All four of the bear’s paws were badly burned when wildlife officers found him resting in reeds next to a pond. They slowly approached the injured 1-year-old bear but he did not move.

“You could tell it was in real pain"

Officers were able to transport the injured bear to a local wildlife rehabilitation center to be treated. We can’t say exactly what happened, but it looks like the poor bear was trapped between burning patches of forest and had to move quickly to save itself.

A total area of over 3,000,000 acres has been burned so far. Officials fear the toll on native wildlife, habitats, and forests will be immenseAs blazes rage throughout the west, more animals will unfortunately suffer the same consequences.

As the west coast battles the fires, more cases like this one are unfortunately inevitable. Our community is pitching in to help save habitats and restore lost forests. We can all make a difference and contribute to the restoration efforts. Saving and restoring acres upon acres of natural habitat, bringing new hope to American wildlife.
