Toilet Paper Overuse Accounts for 15% of Deforestation

Every year, Americans spend a little over $6 billion on toilet paper, more than any other country on Earth. Annually, it takes 1.7 trillion liters (437 billion gallons) of water, 253,000 tons of bleach, not to mention the tons upon tons of trees cut down to feed America’s mainline toilet paper habit.

Toilet paper production and overuse account for 15% of global deforestation, according to the Natural Resource Defense Council. America is literally flushing the planet’s resources down the toilet and something has to change.

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

There are a few things we can all do to lower our toilet paper waste and to help the environment. Switching to eco-friendly brands that offer bamboo toilet paper for one, planting new trees in protected areas all over the US is another. These trees will offset deforested land and help protect our environment.

  • Do you sell bamboo toilet paper and other paper products? If so, did I miss that information?
